What brought the four of us together as owners of Le Trésor Caché?
It’s simple really, but perhaps rare, and something none of us takes for granted – love, true friendship, an interest in looking beyond our daily life experiences, a philosophy that thinking and living out of the box helps in the pursuit of happiness…and many bottles of good wine!
We hope you enjoy Le Trésor Caché as much as we enjoy our time there!
Fred Doss is a native of Arkansas, moved to the Napa Valley in his teens, and then to San Francisco. Fred has lived in New York City and East Hampton for 30 years. Travel; outdoor and sporting activities; the arts and humanities; and family, friends and community are his passions. He is a partner in Goodcircle, a firm that advises companies on leveraging their corporate giving in order to maximize its impact on society. He is a founder of the nonprofit Paddlers for Humanity, a grassroots organization that has raised almost 2 million dollars to better the lives of kids.
Michelle Francis is a native of California, but when not there, grew up in Singapore, Japan and Greece. After 22 years in LA, she’s since lived in New York City and East Hampton. Her international experiences were invaluable in her career as a lawyer overseeing a Fortune 100 media company’s global intellectual property group. She then opened The Francis Company, a business and legal advisory firm assisting entrepreneurs and established businesses in the strategic use and management of their intellectual property. She loves tennis, the ocean, horseback riding and non-fiction work – oral history, photo journalism, documentary, narrative – and hopes to tell her own stories soon.
Vivian Polak was born in New York City, which has consistently been her home base. But growing up and beyond, Vivian spent her summers on the coast of Belgium and various parts of France, where she has lived and worked. (It’s no surprise that Vivian is the only one of the four of us who is truly fluent in French, although the rest of us are trying….). After a 33 year legal career in NY, LA and Paris focused on technology and intellectual property law and on diversity in the legal profession, Vivian launched an innovative social purpose consumer products venture. Vivian also spends many happy hours in her art studio, working in mixed media, including photography, ink and printmaking – her work has been shown in East Hampton and New York City.
John Gicking is a native of Pennsylvania, and has lived in New York City and East Hampton for over 35 years. Although east coast based, John ensures his life is filled with travel experiences – Africa, Asia, South America, Europe and throughout the US – and while on these adventures, John captures the cultures he experiences in photography which makes you feel you are part of the scene. Starting as a private banker, then running a fixed income trading desk, John walked off of Wall Street in Manhattan and on to Main Street in East Hampton to work with Sotheby’s International Realty in the mid-1990’s, and joined real estate startup Compass in 2016, where he oversees their Hamptons operations.
