Le Trésor Caché is centrally situated to explore all of Provence.
The Immediate Area
The property is located within 3 miles (5 kilometers) of many 12th century towns and villages – Bonnieux, Goult, Lacoste, Roussillon, and Menerbes. It takes only 15 minutes by car to travel to L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, the famous antiquing paradise, or Gordes, an extraordinary ancient village built on a mountainside, and 10 minutes to Apt where the Saturday market is a must. You can also travel to a number of these villages if you enjoy a good walk, hike, run, or bike ride – the region has often hosted the Tour de France.
There are numerous restaurants and bars in each village ranging from a bar tabac to gourmet food. There are also many local chateaux or caves in the area to taste and purchase a large variety of wines, including at the famous organic vineyard, Chateau la Canorgue, where ‘A Good Year’ starring Russell Crowe was filmed. Avignon, 40 minutes by car, is the historic ‘Papal City’ and has cultural events even throughout the winter season. Aix-en-Provence, approximately an hour by car, has wonderful shops, many restaurants, bars and cafes. And finally, you must visit Carpentras, famous for its truffle market.

The Camargue, with its wonderful wild life, such as flamingos, bulls, and wild horses, is about a 90-minute car ride. Well known as the city of art and lights, Aix-en-Provence is an hour away. If You Fly Into Marseille…
When you stay at the house, you arrive via Marseille – The 2013 European Capital of Culture. The New York Times consistently chooses Marseille as a Places to Go city.
Marseille – On the Mediterranean, art, and plenty of it.
“The European Capital of Culture designation (two cities get the title annually) often spotlights a destination that has become an up-and-comer on its own merits in the last few years, which is certainly the case with this ancient port town on the Mediterranean. A vibrant ethnic melting pot, Marseille is also home to an increasing number of contemporary art and avant-garde performances. Exhibition spaces include the 2,000-seat Le Silo, a landmark granary that’s been transformed into a theatre; the Panorama, an ex-tobacco factory now home to modern installations; and J1, a hangar on the old port that will host a number of events. While in town, book a stylish hotel like the four-bedroom Casa Honore or the new cheap chic Mama Shelter Marseille.” – Ondine Cohane, New York Times – Travel Section, January 2013
